They've all pledged their support for
MGMA's Project SwipeIT. And beginning today you can, too.
We're excited about the launch of Project SwipeIT, an initiative meant to light a fire under the entire health care industry to adopt standardized patient identification (ID) cards containing WEDI*-compliant, machine-readable information. Say that three times fast! Here's what it means for your practice:
* No more photocopies of health insurance cards or errors resulting from manually entering patient data into your system.
* Significant reduction in denied claims due to incorrect patient data.
* And both lead to an
estimated savings of $1 billion for physician offices and hospitals.
So what can you do to help?
First,
pledge. Let us know your practice is willing to help advance standardization this year. The *
Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) developed ID card standards several years ago, but not much progress has been made nationwide to ensure adoption.
Second,
join the Project SwipeIT eGroup right here in the Member Community and speak up. Share your support and thoughts about the campaign. With your help, we'll make these
proposed ID cards a reality.
