I would like to get some comments on how you go about doing a new physician search for your practice. We are looking at maybe adding a new physician to the practice next year!  I would like to get some ideas and comments.

Thanks Cissy

Cissy, you are very lucky to be able to recruit to a community as beautiful as Franklin. I have visited the area while recruiting to Hohenwald, TN. I would start developing the parameters of your search to make sure that you are hitting your target audience. Based on your need a 2010 resident might be the perfect target for you. Contact local training programs and let them know of your need. The use of the Internet is an absolute must. Direct mail campaigns sent to physicians that are born or licensed or trained in Tennessee to give you the best chance at a long term fit. If you don't have the staff to accomplish the task you may consider a firm that will help work every aspect of the process with you including, locating, screening, referencing, presenting and qualifying candidates. Hope some of this helps Cissy and do not hesitate to contact me directly if I can answer any other questions for you. Vince Zizzo, President, Fidelis Partners, Inc. 949-325-7060 www.fidelismp.com

Cissy, a few key points to consider: Are all physicians in agreement to recruit, willing to provide a competitive salary & benefits, how will call be shared, skills needed, additional languages required, other attributes desired? When will the physician be eligible for partnership and how much is the stock purchase? Once all these questions have been answered, you should be able to write a position description that you can provide candidates. The first place to start looking for candidates is to ask your current physicians to contact their own residency programs for referrals. If the group determines that a professional recruiter is needed, we recommend you utilize a member of the National Association of Physician Recruiters (NAPR), which has a strict Code of Ethics for its members to follow.
