Hello fellow OBGA members -
There are moments in our life we hold with crystal clear recollection. These moments represent the milestones, significant life altering events and are the essence of our character. This first blog post is the creation of one of those moments for me.
All my life, I had aspirations of being a business professional. I remember sitting behind the desk at my dad's office at 7 years old drinking water out of a coffee cup and pretending to be conducting business. Now, 33 years later, I am doing exactly that but with coffee in that cup.
Today, my aspiration is to obtain my ACMPE fellowship designation. I've met many ACMPE Fellows over my 15 years in healthcare management. They were role models for me as I felt these intelligent individuals had it all. And, I wanted to be just like them.
However, just like everyone else, life has a way of getting in the way. And, I want to have fun and maximize life to the fullest with every possible minute.
I don't think of myself as an adult but my 20+ year old employees that call me Mr. Bill abruptly reminds me that I am. So, it's time to be a grown up and make that leap. I know I can do it. And, by documenting my journey for public consumption, I am holding myself accountable to completing this task.
So, to all of you that find yourself aspiring to be better and smarter than you are today, I hope you join me on this journey. We have only ourselves to blame if we fail. No excuses!
