We are in the processing of adding urodyanamics to one of our office sites. As we are researching the CPT coding and reimbursement guidelines we noted that it requires "physician supervision" for the procedure. We had been setting this up based on the model that utilizes the nurse for the testing with the physician providing oversite. I just want to clarify the definition of physician supervision. For those of you doing this does the physician have to be present at the testing or is it adequate that a physician is always available in a multi-group setting and the patients' physician would do the interpretation of the results. We are having both the nurse and physician trained on the equipment. But bottom line, if the physician that is trained gets called to the hospital for a delivery can the testing still take place as long as there is another member of the physician group present on site (not trained in urodynamics). Thanks.
I apologize - this was intended for the OB/Gyn list serve!
