My doctor does spenoplatatine ganglion blocks, but he uses a couple of cotton tipped applicators dipped into 4% lidocaine (2cc). However, during the first visit he dispenses 2% lidocaine (7cc) nasal spray. We don't bill for lidocaine because we don't get paid for it.
The code 64505 states: Injection, anesthetic agent;spenopalatine ganglion (sympathetic nerve block category).
Since he doesn't actually do an injection with a needle, should we be using this code? If we used 01999 for Unlisted anesthesia procedures, we would have problems being neurologists and would have to contact the payers ahead of time to see if it paid.
