Is Obama Care Destined to be repealed? Top Republicans believe so!
Since last weeks ruling by the Supreme Court, the topic of Obama Care
continues to be a hot item of discussion. One thing I noticed while
researching many articles, not everyone is unhappy. I did stumble across
several articles, by Obama Care supporters no doubt, that stated a lot
of positive aspects of the plan. This I feel was in an effort to sway
some of the non supporters of this reform bill.
While watching a
Sunday morning talk show, the emphasis seemed to be on the definition of
the penalty proposed by the reform law. While it seems the democrats
still fail to acknowledge the penalty as a tax, the Supreme Court clearly
in their "opinion" states that the penalty is clearly a tax. Top
republicans have focused in on that definition as it makes the process
of repealing that much easier. In the senate, any tax can be repealed
with a simple 51 vote in favor of repeal. Some republicans feel this can
be accomplished prior to the election in November. With this being a
landmark election year, who knows maybe you will see a democrat or two
jump ship and vote to repeal in order to preserve their seat?
As
this top republican was interviewed, the question was asked, "what will
the republicans replace Obama Care with?" The quick answer was rather
vague. The response was to the effect that we cannot create a new
government run Healthcare system when we cannot effectively run the
government controlled portion we have in place. There was a huge
emphasis placed at the state level for governing such items as pre
existing conditions. The statistic was offered that 1/3 of the United
States had such "high risk pools" already in place.
I am not sure I
am comfortable with all the answers that were given. I am fairly
confident that the fallout from last weeks ruling will greatly affect
the vote in December and we probably will see the repeal of Obama Care
sooner rather than later!
