Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the support and guidance to ensure an appropriate approach for university partnerships, educating and informing current early careerists of readily available ACMPE credentialing opportunities by working together to formulate policies, processes, and initiatives. The Early Careerist Advisory Liaison will voice a foundation for the future of ACMPE credentialed professionals who are part of building community and learning opportunities that are relevant to early careerist association professionals today.

Deliverables and Tactical Actions

1.       Be a contributing voice on partnering with new audiences, such as university programs.

2.       Assist in recommendations to better educate and inform current students of ACMPE offerings available.

3.       Assist in recommendations to position the ACMPE offerings as a tool and recourse for the industry’s early careerists.

4.       Contribute and make recommendations to the ACMPE Certification Commission based on discussions for all audiences.

5.       Be a contributing voice in the oversight of the committee’s performance and supporting the certificate, certification and Fellowship functions.

6.       Be a contributing voice in the maintenance of the Body of Knowledge for Medical Practice Management.

7.       Be a contributing voice in the eligibility requirements for taking the certification exams.

8.       Be a contributing voice in the certification and Fellowship requirements. 

9. Be a contributing voice in the recommendations to the Board regarding ethical standards and professional criteria related to the certification program and Fellow status.

  1. Be a contributing voice in the standing rules and policies, including but not limited to the disciplinary process for individuals related to the certification program and Fellow status.
  2. Contribute as a regular participant, without a vote.

Expected Impact and Outcome

Assist in perspective of the early careerist persona to aid in maintaining the rigor, value, prestige, and collegiality of the ACMPE Certificates, Certification and Fellowship, as well as the future of the ACMPE credentialing offerings.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required

·         Identifies as an MGMA Early Careerists. MGMA defines their early careerists as those in the industry less than 7 years, including active students.

·         Previously involved in student level clubs or organizations related to the industry, preferred.

·         Current or previous insight on relationships with university program development or student professional development.

·         Knowledge in the profession of medical practice management.

·         An understanding of the ACMPE Credentialing offerings of Certificates, Certification, and Fellowship programs or willingness to learn and champion.

·         Attained or considering attaining the CMPE and/or FACMPE credentials.

·         Ability to think strategically.

·         Strong communication skills.

·         Ability to inspire and motivate others.

·         Integrity, enthusiasm and professionalism.

·         Commitment to the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization.

Term/Time Commitment/Location

Terms run for one-year terms (Oct. through Oct.).  Commission Liaison members can expect conference calls every other month or month as needed, one to two face-to-face or virtual meetings and various work via e-mail. The Liaison and any new Commission members for the year will be invited to an ancillary meeting held prior to the MGMA Leaders Conference in October.

Staff Role

Coordinate and support all aspects of the Commission’s work.

Provide insight to the accepted standards and evolving nature of credentialing and certification.

Facilitate communication and coordination of the ACMPE Certification Commission activities with other activities and initiatives of the MGMA-ACMPE enterprise.
