Hospital employed physician compensation for mentoring new Nurse practioner

Wondering does anyone have a suggestion on how to compensate physicians for mentoring an new NP?

We set up a flat monthly stipend for the supervising physician until such time that the NPP is breaking even. Then, in order to encourage the physicians to utilize the NPP, the supervising physicians shares in the profit of the NPP.

I would suggest using a fair market value hourly rate to establish a stipend based on time each week and for however many months. Alternatively, my understanding is that some health systems locally in MN offer oversight physicians $4500 annually for each NP or PA they provide oversight services to. Hope that helps.
