Self Assessment Received and Taken: drum roll please...

I received the "Knowledge Assessment -Self Scored" tool on Friday at work.  I was glad to see it, and quickly read the Overview portion which reviews the steps to certification and mentions that taking this Knowledge Assessment exam is worth 3.25 hrs of continuing education credit - cool!

Anyway I was apprehensive about taking the test, and was tempted to try to glance through it, but I figured that the best thing was to take it "cold."  I was not thinking to take it right away, but with the six inches of snow falling this morning, I figured it was a good excuse not to start shoveling the driveway.

As I started the exam, I struggled a little with the wording of the first few questions, but the more questions I faced, the more it felt like playing Jeopardy - health care edition.  Even though I was doing only "fair" on each section, I actually wanted to keep going.

The final result was that I scored just above the 70%, at 76%, a slim margin.  However, it is motivating to realize that after 22 years in the industry, many of the details have sunk in.  The assessment is divided according to the body of knowledge areas, so my "really low" scores show where I need to study.

This was NOT as bad as I thought it would be, and now I just have to enter the CE credits - and get to work studying and checking out the essay stuff.  But I joined a weekly study group, and the first email also came this week.

More progress to come.  OK again, not as much fun as following the NY Giants!
